For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1937 Parker Vacumatic Slender Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in Burgundy Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassie. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. The barel clarity is good with only mild ambering. This Parker Vacumatic is a Slender Maxima that measures 5 5/16" capped and 6 1/8" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Burgundy Pearl celluloid color is gorgeous and displays very vibrantly. The cap has the Arrow Gold Filled Clip with Blue Diamond with the Wide Chevron Cap Banding displaying no wear or brassing. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the rest of the fountain pen. The barrel is stamped lightly with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 7 (for 1937) in the 3rd Quarter". The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.
This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.
This Parker Vacumatic comes with a 14K Gold Nib with a fine point that measures .54mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .64mm to 1.13mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
This Parker Slender Maxima is the real deal top to bottom. It displays the wide cap band of the Maxima on a standard-diameter pen and features the correct 9-feather-per-side arrow nib. Slender Maximas are more scarce than the larger Senior Maxima and probably show up once for every 50-70 Senior Maximas.
This vintage Parker Vacumatic Slender Maxima Fountain Pen is a classic and beautiful. I would consider this Slender Maxima to be in Excellent Condition! It is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
