What makes the Springfield 507 unique: Today, we’re excited to present this historic piece initially produced by the Illinois Watch Company — the Springfield 507. The timepiece boasts a 406-grade open-face movement with a nickel finish and pendant setting, and it displays brilliant bronze-plated gears powered by 19 screw-set jewels throughout its center bridge plate. The Illinois Watch Company originally manufactured the pocket watch in Springfield, Illinois, in 1924 — the same year Marcus Loew combined Metro Pictures Corporation, Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer Pictures to form Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM). The studio quickly rose to prominence and dominated the film industry from the 1920s to the late 1950s with notable hits including The Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, and Ben Hur. In March 2022, Amazon purchased the studio for $8.45 billion.
